A 2003 study found that people who took 2 grams of shilajit each day for 45 days had lower total cholesterol levels - but their "good" (HDL) cholesterol levels actually went up.

A 2020 study showed shilajit helped activate genes that kept skin cells and blood moving properly through the skin's layers.
"Certainly, if you go to the Koreas, for instance, shilajit is used as a facial because it's so good for tightening up the skin and making it beautiful and glow," said Sam.
3. Women's Bone Health
Research revealed that shilajit helped counter bone density loss in postmenopausal women. This is important because low bone density – which tends to occur when estrogen hormone levels drop after menopause - can lead to bone fractures and loss of independence for women.

"I was able to wean myself off and have found that shilajit was one of the major, major contributors to what helped me balance my mental health."
